Introduction to the field:

As a math Editor, your work will make an immediate impact on the lives of many people.

Publishers of the book change, adapt and refine the manuscripts of authors before publishing books, or before people can buy a copy to read.

Publishers of math do something similar, except that they help teachers to write, edit and publish mathematics textbooks used in schools, or public use.

The challenge:

Although your mathematical skills will be valued much by ensuring that all the theorems and formulae of meaning, the work involves much more than that.

An editor, you will be responsible for the Edition, in proofreading, formatting, to check the spelling, grammar and usage and to improve the style and content so that the information will be attractive to readers.

Get the job:

You want to be an editor of mathematics for Pearson education? McGraw-Hill companies? or Houghton Mifflin?

The minimum requirement to get a job as an editor of mathematics is a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field.

If you want to treat mathematics in advance, such as algebra, real analysis, a diploma of advanced studies in pure mathematics, or the teaching of mathematics, can probably give an advantage over other candidates.

Don’t forget that you will check theorems and formulas of precision in the manuscripts, so if you want to put your hands on materials in advance, it is logical to have a knowledge of the materials.

Almost all positions require experiments in high school, or level collegiate and knowledge of the development of education programs.

In addition, as mentioned above, you will need interpersonal skills and strong communication writing.

Don’t be surprised if a company asks you to take a test written in the process of hiring before they set up an interview.

This field is growing and there is not many people to do the work.Having a major math is also rare. Therefore, if you are interested in this field, your chances of getting a job are good enough. Be proud!
